Heather Dawe prints - 2014 elite prizes
In a break from tradition, we offered a simple high quality prize, to our elite male and female winners at the 2013 GL3D. These were limited edition prints from Heather Dawe. Usually, the GL3D does not provide prizes for the winners but we felt that Heather’s prints would make a fantastic memento for what proved to be another great weekend of adventure in the Lake District.

It is early May, two days before the 2013 Great Lakeland 3Day™ and I am standing on the summit of Great Dodd. The weather is fantastic: perfect running conditions with clear skies, a cool breeze and warm sunshine. Placing controls is rarely a chore but today is one of those memorable ‘days in the office’ that makes being a race organiser really worth it.

2013 Race Director’s report
The courses were on the long side this year. Traditionally day one of the GL3D™ has been significantly longer than the other days. However, this year, Charlie Sproson and I decided to have both day one and two of roughly equally length but with around 30% more height gain on the second day.
