Lowe Alpine renew sponsorship of GL3D

It is very exciting to annouce that leading outdoor brand, Lowe Alpine, have confirmed that they will be supporting the GL3D™ once again in 2014.

The GL3D™ is a small but adventurous three-day mountain marathon with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere that attracts both runners and long-distance walkers. The event has taken place most years in the Lake District since 1998 and has built up a dedicated following of those who enjoy the challenge of three long, consecutive days in the hills.

Lowe Alpine are the world class pack brand started by the famous Lowe brothers back in 1967 in Colorado. Since then the brand has moved to the Lake District, where it has been based for many years and continued the tradition of product innovation and excellence. 2013 sees Lowe Alpine launching their Fast and Light Pack Range and combining perfectly with the 2014 GL3D™, next year will see the launch of Lowe Alpine's much anticpated Fast and Light clothing range.

"It is good to be building a relationship with an authentic and credible event like the GL3D, which is also based in the Lake District", says Rachel Brine, Lowe Alpine Marketing Manager. "As we said last year, we beleive that the GL3D is growing into something a bit special and we want to get right behind it.”

The GL3D™ has built quite a reputation as a relaxed and friendly event with an emphasis on long mountain journeys, spectacular scenery and enjoying an amazing mountain experience rather than complex navigation. Competitors should expect mountain trails and footpaths, along ridges and through valleys, rather than contouring and bogs. Each morning participants simply pack up their kit (which is then transported for them to the next overnight camp) and set off when they like. The faster competitors usually start last, whilst the slower competitors start earlier. Tea, cakes and beer are provided for free at the end of each day and hot water is available both mornings and evenings.

Race Director, Shane Ohly said, "The continued support from Lowe Alpine is fantastic news for the GL3D™ and Lowe Alpine's new Lightflite rucksacks look like just the pack for the GL3D™ competitors. Shane Ohly continued, "This year the course planner, Charlie Sproson, has really cooked up something special and the much discussed 'surprise' for the competitors is keeping them guessing nicely".
