At the beginning of 2012 Ourea Ltd, which owns the Dragon’s Back Race™, the Great Lakeland 3Day™ and Marmot Dark Mountains™ joined 1% For The Planet movement.
2012 GL3D Film - Now live
The Great Lakeland 3Day™ (also known as the GL3D™) is a small but adventurous three-day mountain marathon with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere that attracts both runners and long-distance walkers. The event has taken place most years in the Lake District since 1998.
2012 Event report
Earlier this year, Joe Faulkner reminisced about the early GL3Ds and explained that I was taking over the event. For the May 2012 event, I had not wanted to change much in terms of the event format but did want to modernise how the event operated, with the introduction of pre-printed maps and electronic timing.
