GL3D Snow report

Yesterday the team were out placing checkpoints for the GL3D this weekend. The weather was very poor on the high tops and everyone placing checkpoints cut short their days due to the difficult conditions. However, the forecast for Friday through to Monday is for rising temperatures and a general improvement in the weather.

We would recommend keeping up to date with the Mountain Weather Information Service forecast for the Lake District

Race Director Shane Ohly said, “Naturally we are observing the weather forecast and conditions on the hills carefully, and we have already made the decision to remove one checkpoint from the Elite and A course (the reason will become obvious when the courses are revealed at registration), and we will carefully consider all the courses based on the latest weather information on Friday evening, but the event will be going ahead."

We would recommend that participants bring some extra layers as wind-chill on the tops is likely to be significant, and there will be a good chance of wintry showers all weekend. Your warm, ‘winter’ sleeping bag for the overnight camps is also recommended.

We look forward to welcoming you all to our Herdwick Croft Event Centre this evening.
