Event Rules

It is the participant’s responsibility to understand and follow these rules:

Universal

  • Participants must follow the >> universal event rules << applicable to all events organised by Ourea Events.

General

  • Participants may choose their own start time, but must arrive at the finish each day after the earliest finish time and before the course closure time (both times are printed on the event map issued at registration)

  • ALL participants must download their SI data at the end of each day with the organisers at the specified end point of that day (the overnight camp or event centre), regardless of whether they have completed their course or not.

  • Headphones: Participants must NOT wear headphones or listen to music on any road sections/crossings along the route.

  • All participants must stay onsite overnight on Day 1 and Day 2 at the Overnight Camp(s). Access to luxury amenities like hotel rooms, B&B’s, showers etc. outside of the Overnight Camp(s) are prohibited.

Dry bag rules

  • Dry bag size and weight: Participants may only use a dry bag with a maximum product capacity of 60L, which must weigh no more than 13kg. Oversized or overweight dry bags will not be accepted at registration.

  • Dry bag identification: ID stickers/tags, provided at registration, must be attached to participants' dry bags for the duration of the event. Any other stickers that may cause confusion must be removed from each dry bag.

  • Dry bag handling: Participants must never move or collect other participants' dry bags as this is an important visual safety check that everyone is accounted for at the end of each day.

  • Dry bag contents: No glass bottles or breakables are permitted in dry bags.

Tip

Please check out our guidance on dry bags article.

DOGS

  • Dogs should be at least 12 months old to take part in the event. We recommend that larger breeds are at least 18 months old.

  • We recommend only one dog per person, but the maximum allowed is two.

  • Dogs must be attached to you at all times both at the Event Centre and Campsites and on the courses. Any dogs seen running off-lead may result in you being withdrawn from the race.

  • We highly recommend that dogs wear a Y-Fronted harness specifically designed for running or hiking along with a bungee lead when out on the course. For the welfare of your dog, we suggest you do not run them using a slip lead, check/choke chain, head collar, extendable lead, a non-pull lead or harness, or a collar or harness that could restrict breathing or forward leg movement.

  • You must always pick up after your dog both at the Event Centre and Campsites, and out on the course.

  • We recommend that participants bringing dogs should have adequate insurance cover for damage to third party property or injury to third parties (including fellow participants).

  • Dogs must be kept out of the catering and food service areas.

  • Please be aware that not everyone likes dogs, so please be respectful of your fellow participants.
