The Ourea were the primeval gods and spirits of the mountains and according to Greek mythology the ten Ourea were the children of Gaia! Regardless of supernatural superstitions Ourea Ltd events maintain an ethos that remains true to the spirit of adventure in the mountains.

Ourea Ltd is a member of 1% for the Planet and therefore 1% of sales are donated to grass routes environmental organisations involved with the conservation and protection of the mountains.

Ourea Ltd also organises the Dragon's Back Race™ and Marmot Dark Mountains™.

The Race Director of the 2013 Great Lakeland 3Day™ is Shane Ohly.

Shane Ohly has worked as the Planner, Race Director and/or Event Director at some of the UK and Ireland’s largest adventure sport events including:

He is also an elite mountain runner and orineteer who won the coveted OMM Elite in 2011. He took part in the GL3D™ himself in 2005, 2006 and 2007.

Once again, Lake District mountain runner, Charlie Sproson, will be helping with the local planning. Charlie was responsible for planning the highly successful 2012 Great Lakeland 3Day™ and also the Saunders Lakeland Mountain Marathon in 2011.
